Children/Young People -Meditation and Movement Group

Group Content: introduction, relaxation techniques and guided meditation, freestyle movement/dance to music followed by cool down and brief discussion.

Does your child struggle with anxiety, stress, find it hard to calm themselves, have difficulty making or maintaining friendships due to shyness or worries? Are they sensitive young beings? If so this group be for them!

Participants will learn simple relaxation and mediation techniques, tools for self-soothing and how to be mindful and focused in the present to help them manage stress and anxiety. Through the enjoyment of freestyle movement and dance to different kinds of music they will learn how to tune into and manage the feelings, needs and intuition of their physical bodies. Learning the early signals as emotions register in their bodies means children have the opportunity to calm themselves down and access their wise mind to problem solve.

The program provides children with opportunities to socialise in a fun and non-threatening setting. There is a balance of semi-structured activities that provide opportunities for warming up and the security of a predictable routine while allowing children some freedom to follow their own intuition and express creativity and their individuality.

Children are placed in groups of a similar age range (7 to 10yrs), (11 to 13yrs) and (14 to 17yrs). Parents of younger children are required to stay onsite for duration of group.

Duration: 1 hour Location: Penrith LGA
