Parenting by Connection Group for Separated Parents
This group aims to help parents navigate some of the challenging elements of post-separation parenting.
We invite you to explore the complexity of your child’s life after separation. Reflecting on the diverse range of feelings a child experiences during and after separation, and how they communicate those feelings.
Tuning In to Your Child
When a parent is ‘Tuned In,’ they are able to understand their child’s experience from their child’s perspective. ‘Tuning In’ is the foundation to a secure and supportive relationship with your child.
In this group, we explore different ways you can connect with your child that encourage closeness and warmth in your relationship. When your child feels connected trust builds and children are able to express their feelings more freely.
Listening to kids
Listening is the key to connecting. Together we look at five tools that you can implement in your family that support you to listen and attune to your child.
How Emotions Work
Many parents find it helpful to have a basic explanation of the neuroscience behind emotions. We will discuss how a child’s brain is structured and how this can influence the way a child’s emotions and behaviours can be understood.
Understanding Yourself as a Parent
Parents are given the opportunity to reflect on themselves and their story as a parent. Exploring their own triggers and discussing ways of building their parenting capacity through accessing support.
