Strategies & Interventions to promote children's social, play & communications skills at school & home

Sarah’s talk aims to provide parents with practical strategies to build their child’s social, play and communication skills in their home and school setting. Sarah will also discuss different types of evidence-based interventions that can be used in the home and school setting as well as strategies for approaching your child’s school when intervention is needed in the school setting.
Sarah is an occupational therapist who has worked and researched with children and their families. Sarah’s work and research has focused on improving the social, play and communication skills of children with ADHD and autism through intervention delivered in the home and school setting.
Sarah received her PhD from the University of Sydney in 2015. Her research involved developing a play-based intervention for children with ADHD. Sarah currently works part-time at the Australian Catholic University and is continuing her research.
Sarah’s passion is to work with parents, teachers and peers of children with ADHD and autism to build children’s social, play and communication skills – skills needed for friendships.
