What's it about?
Total Communication combines talking, gesture, Key Word Sign, objects and visuals to assist the child to understand what is happening and to express their needs, wants, thoughts and ideas. Using this approach can reduce children’s frustrations and promote children’s language by increasing interactions and sociability. It can benefit children with special needs, children who are developing typically and children learning a language other than English. Specific strategies and resources including visuals and signing are shown.
